The National Civil Aviation Policy (NCAP 2016) along with flagship program Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS or UDAN- Udey Desh ka Aam Nagric ) will pave the way for India to become the top aviation hub in Asia.
Air Cargo is also projected to quadruple by 2030. India’s has at present only one dedicated Air Cargo Operator. India’s freighter fleet is also likely to expand multi fold.
MRO ( Maintenance Repair and Overhaul) Services have also started with a significant course correction in policy of the DGCA is all part of the making Indian the Global MRO hub by the Vision 2040 Aviation Policy by the Ministry of Civil Aviation in India.
General Aviation is slowly becoming an Integral part of India’s aviation growth story by the Remote Air connectivity program. By 2025 India is looking into connecting urban communities for Medical evacuation.
To make this growth a realty the Aviation industry needs to gear up and train professionals in Aviation
Aviation Human Resource and Training:
Conservative estimates show the current direct employment in the aviation 390,000 and 570,000 in the value chain and envisaging the robust growth projections ahead in the Aviation sector, the number of direct employees is expected to increase to roughly about a million.
This number includes the number of Pilots, Cabin Crew, aircrafts, engineers, technicians, ticketing staff, airport staff, operational staff, ground handling, ramp agents, cargo, retail, security, administrative and marketing staff. Not to mention the loaders, drivers, helpers etc.
To prepare skilled human resources for this kind of growth, the Central and state governments, Industry and academia will need to invest in a massive upgrade of the existing education and skill building infrastructure and Human Resources
